Advice from someone you can talk to
I'm David Whiteside, an adviser working for Avalon FS Ltd. I help homeowners in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire understand their options and decide whether equity release is right for them.
I work with clients remotely, so you don't need to travel to see me, wherever you are in the area.
I advise on lifetime mortgages only. That means I'll give you a clear picture of how they work, what they cost and what the alternatives are, and if it isn't the right choice for you I'll tell you.
Avalon FS is a member of the Equity Release Council, and its standards are there to protect you.
I can help you with
- Understanding how a lifetime mortgage works, in plain English
- Working out roughly how much you could release
- Comparing it with the alternatives, such as downsizing
- Talking it through with your family, if you'd like them involved
- Taking you through each step if you decide to go ahead
Homeowners across Doncaster and South Yorkshire
I work with homeowners in and around:
- Doncaster
- Bessacarr
- Cantley
- Tickhill
- Armthorpe
- Conisbrough
- Mexborough
- Hatfield
- Rossington
- Sprotbrough
- Finningley
Don't see your village or town? Get in touch and we'll talk it through.
Things that matter when you own a home here
Every home is different, so there are a few things worth considering early on:
- Your home will be valued. The lender arranges a valuation, and it's a key part of how much may be offered.
- Flats and leasehold homes. Lenders have rules about leasehold, including how long is left on the lease, so check yours early.
- Older or unusual properties. Some lenders restrict certain types of construction, so it's worth mentioning if your home is unusual.
- Any existing mortgage. This is normally repaid from the money released, and the calculator can include it.
- Independent legal advice. You'll see a solicitor before going ahead, and I'll explain how that works.
What will it cost to get advice?
The first conversation is free, with no obligation. If you decide to go ahead, my fee is £899, and I'll confirm it in writing before you commit to anything.
There are other costs to consider with any lifetime mortgage, such as interest and lender and legal fees. I'll explain all of them clearly, and you can read more in the frequently asked questions.
Let's have a friendly chat
Tell me a little about your situation and I'll explain what your options might look like. There's no obligation.
